1. What Is a Card Break
A card break is an event where a breaker (a verified business on our platform) opens sealed trading card products on behalf of buyers who have purchased spots. Each spot entitles the buyer to receive cards pulled for their team, division, or randomly assigned allocation.
2. Spot Purchase
Spots are purchased at the listed price; all sales are final once payment is confirmed
Each spot is non-transferable unless the breaker explicitly permits transfers
Payment is held in escrow until the break is completed and cards are assigned
3. Break Types
Pick Your Team (PYT): Buyers select a specific team; cards pulled for that team go to the buyer
Random Team: Teams are randomly assigned to spot buyers using our verifiable randomization algorithm
Random Division: Entire divisions are randomly assigned to spot buyers
Hit Draft: Significant pulls (hits) are drafted in a predetermined or random order
4. Randomization Integrity
Random breaks use a cryptographically seeded Fisher-Yates shuffle. The seed hash is recorded and published for each break so buyers can verify the randomization was not tampered with.
5. Breaker Obligations
Open all products purchased for the break
Stream the break live or record it in full
Assign all pulled cards to the correct spot buyers within 24 hours of break completion
Notify each buyer of their cards and delivery options within 48 hours
6. Card Delivery
After a break, buyers choose one of:
Vault storage: Cards are added to your digital wallet in The Vault at no extra cost
Direct shipping: Cards are shipped to your address; shipping costs are charged to the buyer
Failure to choose within 48 hours defaults to shipping at the buyer's expense.
7. Refunds and Cancellations
Full refund if the break is cancelled before it commences
No refund once the break has started, regardless of results
If a breaker fails to complete a break without cause, buyers receive a full refund
8. Disputes
Break disputes must be raised within 7 days of break completion via Support Centre. The Collectibles Exchange Inc. acts as final arbitrator for break disputes.
